An Edwardian end of terrace in East Oxford.

We have had an air source heat pump installed in an Edwardian end terrace in East Oxford. This replaced a gas combi boiler that did not heat the house or the water effectively.

At the same time we had the sash windows professionally restored and draught-proofed, and some additional roof insulation put in (there was already reasonable insulation for most of the roof).

Our main aim was to reduce our carbon emissions by ceasing to use gas. We are with a 100% renewable energy supplier to make this possible. And we are now very snug, with much better heating and hot water than before. There should be some saving on our energy bills – perhaps not huge at this point but could be improved in future if we decide to do more retrofitting.
